How to grind carbide?

Cobalt-based metal duro is a corrosion-prone product, please refer to the following grinding methods.

1. Grinding fluid.
1) Keep the grinding fluid PH around 9.0, which can be monitored by an electronic PH meter, or PH test paper.
2) Use a fully synthetic grinding fluid with a concentration near 3.0-5.0% (or other suitable grinding fluid), clear and odourless, with a fungal count <105/ml.
Send the grinding fluid for regular inspection and replace any substandard grinding fluid, or sterilise it, replenish it with clear water or original fluid, etc.

2. Grinding process control.
1) The ground alloy should be cleaned and wiped with compressed air or a dry cloth within 1 hour to keep it dry, preferably using a dryer to dry the residual moisture.
2) If it is not possible to complete 1) within 1 hour, soak the alloy directly in alcohol, grinding fluid or water (it should not be left for a long time, the recommended time is not more than 4H), do not expose the alloy with water stains from the grinding fluid directly to the air.
3) Alloys that need to be left in the air for a long time should be cleaned with clean alcohol or cleaning agent and then blown with compressed air or dried with a dry cloth.

Corrosion principle of cemented carbide.
WC-Co-(Ni)-(Cr) carbide is a non-homogeneous material, where Co is the metal, due to the potential difference between the hard phase WC and the bonded phase Co, in the corrosive medium, the bonded phase and the adjacent hard phase are prone to form a primary battery between the galvanic coupling corrosion, carbide no matter with acidic, neutral or alkaline media will form a primary battery and galvanic coupling corrosion, to solve the machining process of cemented carbide The key to solving the corrosion behaviour of carbide during machining is to improve or not to use the electrolyte solution that forms the primary cell without forming galvanic corrosion.
