If you are using Tungsten Heavy Alloy (WHA), you may be confused about the LOW MAG vs. Non-Magnetic options. These are “magnetic” and “non-magnetic”, but we will refer to them as low magnetic and non-magnetic.

Low Magnetic vs. Non-Magnetic: Which is Best for Your Application?

To determine whether Low Magnetic WHA vs. Non-Magnetic WHA is right for your application, please refer to the case studies. If the existing magnetic field in the radiation generating equipment is undisturbed, then a non-magnetic WHA may be ideal. In addition, nonmagnetic WHA is often used in downhole probes/instruments where the programming chip and/or sensors are shielded. The most obvious case for non-magnetic WHA is magnetometer scanning as the primary application.

What is Non-MAG WHA?

Non-magnetic conventional WHA has a tungsten-nickel-copper composition. Unless the desired application requires non-magnetic properties, magnetic WHA is the ideal solution. Magnetic WHA is often the standard choice.
